sunday, 29 june 2008More destashingHey, hope you're weekend is going oh-so wonderfully! Just a few more photos of yummy yarn looking to be re-housed. More info on Ravelry and Flickr. Kisses xxx PS: oh, commenting re-activated on this site - stop by & say HI, I've missed you :)
saturday, 28 june 2008Destashing (picture heavy!)Hi kids, I need a glass of water. No, wait. Get me something stronger. I've spent the entire afternoon going through my beloved yarn, selecting pretty little skeins to destash, having second thoughts, feeling emotionally scarred (I never thought I'd get rid of Habu!), slapping myself back to reality, and eventually being a grown up about it and listing stuff to sell up on Ravelry, with photographs, details and everything. Wow, I'm tired! The thought of all that unused yarn, accumulated around the flat, had been getting me down no end and taking away some of the pleasure every time I thought about casting on for something new. Some yarns, beautiful as they may be, ain't gonna get knitted(*) in my lifetime. I know that. Even they know that. And yet, their simple being in the flat had been weighing me down, bearing an actual physical burden on my shoulders. At one point I felt quite disheartened, firstly cos I just don't have enough room to clutter the flat with stash I know will sit there forever. Then it's quite sould destroying (yep, ok, reality check... must remember: yarn should not does not rule my life...) to think of all the possibilities, all the nice little things I could do with them, and the realisation that I have so many other plans which I want to execute first, that I just can't bear the thought of all this softiness laying around and gathering dust (metaphorically speaking, of course!). Knitting is meant to be fun! I can't sit around worrying: when am I going to knit all this? I mean, this is just wrooooong! So, I went through my drawers, and my bags, and my cabinets, and dug out orphans screaming for a new and more loving family. I've listed them on Ravelry - if anybody is interested, please do get in touch. I'm not sure how this works, I don't think Ravelry is enabled for selling yarn, so just drop me a line and we can PayPal? To be honest, I'm more interested in selling the stash, rather than trading it, I really really need to make some room. If I get no interest on Ravelry, I'll put them on eBay, in a couple of weeks' time. I've also created a set on Flickr, here's a few photos to give you an idea, if you're not on Ravelry - click on the images below to get details and larger versions: Commenting on this site is still disabled, so get in touch via Ravelry, Flickr, or good old email. Pleeeease take it off my hands!!! Night night xxx (* Sock yarn? I mean, when am I going to knit myself socks???? The tiny ankle sock I knitted over a year ago is still awaiting its companion. I've given up. It hasn't. Will update you should there be any news.)
friday, 27 june 2008Call me boring......but I just love this place. In fact, I believe I was MADE for this place... Lots more photos on Flickr. My favourite bits here.
thursday, 26 june 2008Storms!Hiya, I'm back, well have been for a few weeks now :'( How was it? The weather was atrocious! Can you believe it??? Thunderstorms, lightning storms, just bog standard storms... yep, I think you get it, think of a storm, any storm, and that's what the weather was on my holiday!!! Well, I still managed to have a fab time, relaxing, lazing about, reading loads and generally chilling out. Pics, you say? Oh, well, ok then :) Lots more photos on Flickr.
thursday, 12 june 2008It's rainingAnd I'm not amused. It's h. 1:40am (so what am I doing sitting here, instead of catching up on much needed sleep? Read on, it wil become clear in a second) and it's pis*ing down. Out of all the nights it could have rained lately, out of all the nights I felt like I was suffocating in this greenhouse-like room, which when it catches the sun during the day, it then gets boiling hot at night, out of all the nights I've woken up huffing and puffing, sweaty and bothered (not a pretty picture, I agree), out of all the nights, the rainy gods have gone and picked tonight to empty the skies on us. Any other night, I would have pulled the duvet over my head and listened with a big smile on my face, eyes shut, to the soothing rain pouring down. In fact, I pretty much love it when it chucks it down at night. I wish it always did. It makes me feel all safe and warm and cuddly and giggly. Not tonight. You see, in an hour or so, I shall be starting my 87-hour journey to reach Stansted airport in time to catch the 7 o'clock plane tomorrow morning (yep, silly time, I know and even a sillier route, let me tell ya... I'll spare you the details of how I'm getting there - it tires me just thinking about it!). I'm off on a long weekend in the sun! Yes, kids, sea, sand, sun (fingers crossed), the lot!! And so, I had worked out my attire so that by the time I landed at my destination tomorrow morning, I would totally look the part (and not just a saddo sporting layers upon layers of clothes). No can do, I'm afraid. I was going to wear open-toe sandals and just stick it out and deal with cold feet tonight, but somehow now I don't fancy the idea of wet toes, so back to my chunky GordonJacks it is. Such a pain, really, as footwear aside, I'll be dragging my trolley through mud - yukkkk! :( But nevermind, eh? I'll remind myself of how gorgeous it was on my last beach-y break (gosh, that was a full year ago, I really MUST start taking it easier and going places more often). Look! Blue, shimmering sea, here I come! :)(Just checked: yep, still raining!) Comments
thursday, 12 june 2008Holiday!!I shall be away till Tuesday 17th June 08, so any stitch markers orders placed between now and then, will be dispatched on my return. Laters peeps xxx
monday, 09 june 2008Itsy bitsy pin cushionHey Kids, How's it going? So, I said I would post as and when, and not worry too much about explaining the looooong silences in between, so here I am! I've sort of got my knitting mojo back, in fact I am knitting a little every day, albeit for no longer than 10-15 minutes a pop, which I fit in my grueling commuting (I might have great news on that front. But that's for another post.) Today I'll show you something I made in the last few weeks - the original is just soooo cute - go take a look, I'll be here when you're done! I mean, I could eat those lil things. I'm pretty pleased with mine as well although the fabric I've used doesn't quite work as the pattern is just too large for this itzy bitsy pin cushion :) Made following this tutorial. Comments
